Coach Mike has changed my life. My weight loss journey began 5 years ago when I dropped 95 lbs on my own, but I was only focused on cardio and a restrictive diet, this left me feeling so weak and I still had problem areas along with some extra skin in areas. An epic shout out is long overdue for Michael Hartman and Formal Fitness Training. This is a longer post but well worth the read especially if you are not happy with your current physical condition.

My journey to a better me started in June 2020 when I was weighing in well over 250 (a very unhealthy 250) and was taking 7 pills a day to battle an assortment of medical conditions (BP, Reflux, Diabetes…) generally caused by my own doing. After getting an assist from Noom and dropping my initial 70 pounds primarily through diet and limited calorie intake, I found myself down to 179 pounds but still not necessarily feeling any healthier and definitely having a difficult time maintaining the dietary restrictions. That is when I looked up personal trainers near me and found Michael. The initial call was very encouraging and even though I only wanted to use his services for a few months he was upfront and honest about the time it takes to get real and sustainable changes. I also liked that there were several options I could choose from (meeting at a gym, at home or virtually) and we originally began working out at my house. Several months later we transitioned to the local Retro Fitness which is where we have trained for the past 10 months.

He plans out your macros, makes dietary suggestions and offers what seems like an unending assortment of exercise combinations to keep things constantly interesting. I won’t BS you. It’s not easy and he can push you to what you may think are beyond your limits but in reality, they are typically limits you arbitrarily set for yourself to keep you comfortable. I have never felt at risk with what he has asked of me. Over a year has passed by and my results have been well beyond any expectations I had. I have gained nearly 20 pounds of muscle, am down to 16

Equally important to the results mentioned above though is the fact that Michael Hartman is just an amazing person and has become a trusted and highly valued friend. I said to him months ago he’s really in the relationship business as much as he’s in the training business. He truly cares about your progress and celebrates your accomplishments with you. So, if you are in a place physically that you are not happy with and are looking to make a move to better yourself, I would highly recommend him. You won’t be disappointed.
