Are Excuses Holding You Back

In todays world there is an abundance of anything you need to succeed. Whether that is in the realm of health, wealth, success, happiness, fitness, nutrition or relationships. We have the best nutrition available in the history of the United States and we have gyms and parks available on every corner. Combine that with virtual personal trainers and in home personal trainers like Formal Fitness Training who will literally meet you in person at your house or in front of your computer.

I don’t have time. I don’t have the money. I don’t have the right equipment. My kids keep me too busy. I don’t have the right workout gear. It’s too cold. It’s too hot.

Any of these can be temporary reasons why you choose not to act and choose to stay the same. Remember dreams don’t work if you don’t work!

Now I’m not writing a blog to yell at anyone who is currently not getting “it” done but I just want to give everyone a friendly reminder that:

There are thousands of people chasing their dreams who have less time, less money, less equipment, more kids, more obligations, less workout gear & in hotter and colder environments then you have to deal with. Sorry; but its true.

Now is the moment in this blog where you take out a pen and paper. Write down five goals you have for yourself and I’ll be here when you get back.

Do you have your five goals?

Awesome! Now I want you to break each one of them down into three sub-goals which will help progress you towards your goal.

Example: I want to save 10,000 this year. Sub-goals – I will start saving $192/week, I will cancel HBO Max and YouTube Red because I don’t watch them anyway (savings $45/month), I will do my nails myself & shop groceries on a budget or eat out one less time per week (savings $50-100/week)

Boom! A goal which basically paid for itself by doing things you were already doing but recalibrated!

Looking at your five goals I would start with the easiest goal and then work your way to the hardest goal that is how you build momentum. Momentum is sometimes the only thing holding someone back, or inertia. Those who sit on the couch tend to be those who sit on the couch; those who run tend to be those who run.

Here are some random tips to help you clear your headspace or mindset while allowing you to move in the right direction.

    1. Read a chapter of a motivational or personal development book daily.
    2. Avoid the news and negativity on social media like the plague.
    3. Remove or distance yourself from negative people.
    4. Surround yourself with positive people.
    5. Deep breathing everyday
    6. Meditation 5-10 minutes 2-3x per week as a starting point.
    7. Drink 1 gallon of filtered water daily.
    8. Set new goals at the end of every month.
    9. Keep a journal of your journey.
    10. Create a reward system for yourself to enjoy the journey (i.e. new outfit after accomplishing two or three goals).

Keep moving forward whether you are hiring a personal trainer, improving your eating habits, improving your financial habits or becoming a better communicator.

    Onward and Upward Always!
